Sickness, trauma, death, destruction, devastation. They happen. And that sucks. I just don’t think the right question to ask is “why me?” In some ways, these most personal tragedies aren’t really personal. They are part of the cycle of life. Is life really supposed to be fair? Why do we have that expectation? Somewhere along the way I’m afraid that we get stuck in that childhood thought — “life is supposed to be fair” and it’s so disappointing to find out that what may be our rule, is not actually life’s rule.
